What is Quilts of Valor?
How Does This Work?
Who Are The Volunteers?
Who Are The Sponsors?

The Quilts of Valor Foundation provides quilts and presentation cases (pillowcases) to service members and veterans who have served in combat and have been touched by war.

This national foundation is made up of hundreds of local groups. To learn more about the Quilts of Valor Foundation.

A variety of individuals are involved in the production and distribution of our quilts. It usually begins with cutting and piecing the quilt; then the fabric is quilted, and the binding and label is sewn on. A matching presentation case (pillowcase) is also made. Local veteran support groups help us identify veterans who are eligible to receive the quilts. Although we like to keep them local, some quilts are shipped to areas with a greater need.

The Southern Tier Quilts of Valor is made up of many wonderful quilters. Ellen Reilly serves as the coordinator and contact person. Email Ellen.

Bia Bernum, owner of Sew You Can, works closely with Ellen to take care of the volunteers and help organize the group.

Jackie Dudek started the local group.

We have a group of wonderful sponsors!

You can email Ellen for more information.

The Southern Tier Quilts of Valor group meets at 9 am on the last Monday of the month at Sew You Can in Corning, New York. You can come in and help cut, iron, and/or quilt. Or you can pick up a kit to take home and work on!

We will welcome quilts/tops from individuals and guilds. Because this is an heirloom quilt, we require quality fabric and workmanship. The official requirements and sizes can be found on the QOV website.

If your guild is interested in making a QOV, contact Ellen.

Quilts are awarded every week all over the world. For a current number, please visit the Quilts of Valor Foundation.

Our thanks go out to Jackie Dudek who started The Big Flats Quilts of Valor Group. In July 2011, Jackie moved to the other side of the country and Ellen Reilly stepped in. They renamed it Southern Tier Quilts of Valor to represent a larger area. Ellen teaches quilting at Sew You Can and knew that the studio would be a perfect place for the group to meet.
